I have to admit….I have an addiction….I am completely addicted to knitting! Do you remember my 2014 goals? It’s been a month! I’ve been trying to knit strictly from my stash and not buy any new yarn for an entire month now. Thirty one days! So…how did I do? Pretty great, I would say! My “wall of yarn” doesn’t look any different yet, of course. But I haven’t bought a single skein of yarn in January. Nothing! And I’ve been knitting up a storm. I can’t wait to show you my finished objects!
First finish for 2014 was my Cable Hat #3. This was a knit for hire hat. I finished it on January 3 and used Maggi’s Merino Chunky yarn. It was a fun, quick knit and my “customer” was very happy. I really enjoy doing cables and would love to do an entire afghan someday.
Second finish for 2014 was my Slouchy Hat #6. This was another knit for hire. I’m always surprised to see how popular my hats are. That’s a good thing though! Anyhow, I finished this hat on January 16 and it is knit out of Red Heart Super Saver Fleck yarn. Just a basic, slouchy hat – comfy and warm!
Third finish for 2014 was the Ice Pack Cover. This was a invention out of necessity. I finished it on January 24 and it is knit out of Bernat Cotton yarn. I really love this! It’s so functional but yet pretty too!
Fourth, and final, finish for 2014 was the Cable Scarf. I finished it on January 27 and it is knit out of Maggi’s Merino Chunky yarn. This one was a request from my dear daughter Ashley. I had knit her a cable hat out of this yarn for Christmas and she wanted a scarf to match. Unfortunately, I ran out of yarn so it’s a little shorter than I would’ve preferred but she still loves it.
As you can see, I’ve been busy. I can’t believe how much I love knitting. It relaxes me, but yet activates my mind too. Not to mention how much I love creating beautiful items that bless me and everyone else! So, what about the numbers? At the start of the year, I had 210, 547 yards of yarn. Now, at the end of January, I have 209, 569 yards of yarn! That means I’ve knit atleast 978 yards of yarn. My knitmeter says I’ve knit 1033 so that is a little higher. I don’t know which is technically right. Either way, that’s a lot of yards of yarn, especially since I didn’t buy a single yard this month! Yay! Next up are skeins of yarn. At the beginning of 2014, I had 1,226 skeins and now I have 1215 skeins. That means I’ve knit 11 skeins of yarn. Awesome!
So how are you coming? Have you bought any yarn yet? Have you been knitting down your stash? Are you finding beautiful yarns you didn’t realize you had? Are you as addicted to knitting as me? I hope so! It’s a wonderful hobby! Keep on knitting!
