There are so many ways to be entertained these days that we almost have too many different options to choose from. But if you’re looking for a way to spend a few minutes to have a break from your work, or because you’ve got a bus or train to wait for, you can’t beat a few online games.

Today, almost everyone is connected to the internet 24/7, whether it’s via a smartphone, a tablet or a pc or laptop. And there is a vast choice of different things to play online. But some of the games out there require lots of time and concentration – not something you’re always able or willing to give to a game. There are some times when you just want easy entertainment to help you unwind.

Here are three great games to take five with online.

Online slots

Slots games have been entertaining us for more than a hundred years now  - the first real successful slot machine was the Liberty Bell, invented by a Charles Fey from San Francisco. Fey’s machine was the first of many different slots that followed, and as time went by, the games became more and more complex and multi-layered. Online slots are the latest stage of slots history, with thousands of games to choose from, many of which are hosted by a number of different casino sites. For those games where there are progressive jackpots to be won, the prize values can be staggering due to the number of people playing a certain game. There are many options available online. For example, you can discover how to play online slots with bgo.com where there is a huge selection of slots to choose from, including those themed around movies, TV characters and board games.

Candy Crush Saga

You must have seen people playing this game by now. If you haven’t actually seen it in action, you’ll know people have been playing it as it comes up on their Facebook page. It’s the most popular game on Facebook right now – Candy Crush is this decade’s Tetris. Basically, it’s a game that requires you to get things in the right order so that you can progress to the next level. The game screen is full of coloured candy that you have to move in order to create sets of three or more candies that are the same colour. You may have to negotiate some obstacles in order to achieve this. Candy Crush requires a little more effort than most slots – as it’s more about co-ordination than anything.

Scrabble

Well it doesn’t have to be Scrabble; there are lots of other choices like Word Trick and Word Feud, but it all boils down to the same thing. This will be a five minute break when you want your brain cells to really get involved as you can only win the game by producing the best words you can think of with the letters you have available. But the great thing about these word games is that you play an opponent over a period of days or weeks – so you can just dip into the game when you have time and check whether it’s your turn or not.

Of course, these are just a few examples, but it’s nice to mix up the gaming that you do a little. After all, as the old saying goes, ‘variety is the spice of life’!
