“Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” DVD Review

“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”, which is being released today on DVD and BluRay by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, was a pleasant surprise for me. I actually liked it a lot better than I expected I would, which is amazing considering I had very high expectations to begin with!  Here is a little bit about the film…

An award-winning, all-star cast, led by Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Maggie Smith, lights up this “buoyant comedy laced with genuine emotion.” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) When seven cash-strapped seniors decide to “outsource” their retirement to a resort in far-off India, friendship and romance blossom in the most unexpected ways. Smart, life-affirming and genuinely charming, THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL is a “true classic that reminds us that it’s never too late to find love and a fresh beginning at any age.” (Rex Reed, The New York Observer)

I really enjoyed watching the friendships grow between these seven strangers as they enjoyed retirement in India. The story was well written and the acting was fantastic.  I highly recommend checking out “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”!

As many movies are, this one is based on an awesome novel by Deborah Moggach. And guess what, she is holding a live Q&A tomorrow on GoodReads.com and will answer your questions about her book and the process of turning it into a film.  Simply visit the Featured Author Group with Deborah.  Won’t it be fun to actually ask the author some questions and get some inside info!
