Whew! My family has had a very eventful weekend. The most excitement we’ve had in quite some time! Tom & I had made plans to go away on Friday & Saturday night to a wood cabin in the Amish Country here in Ohio. It was a beautiful cabin & we were really looking forward to our time alone. We left our daughter, who is 19, home alone & she was excited about that as well.
We arrived to the cabin on Friday evening. Enjoyed the hot tub for awhile & decided to go to a show. We went to see “The Confession”, which was absolutely amazing! But I’m getting ahead of myself. While we were eating dinner before the show, the waitress said everyone needed to go to the basement because there was a severe storm going on. Eventually we were allowed to leave the restaurant & go see the show.
After it was over we texted our daughter to see how she was doing. The storm had hit Newark, Ohio too. It was a terrible storm! The radio was even reporting that basically a tornado had hit without the actual rotation. The power was out at our house but everything was fine. She seemed to be doing alright so we decided to stay at our cabin.
Later, though, I started to worry, so we drove home at about 2 in the morning. Tom got everything situated for our daughter and we slept in our bed. The next morning we got up early & headed back to the cabin again. We enjoyed our day, did lots of shopping, eat tons of great food and really enjoyed our time alone.
We went back to the cabin to take a nap & our daughter texted me. The charger my husband had set up wasn’t working, the power was still out and our house alarm battery had died. She was stressed out and nervous about night time coming. I reassured her but was worried myself.
Tom and I talked about it & I started crying. I just really wanted to go home & have him be able to take care of everything. My husband, who is amazing and will do whatever I want, said it was perfectly fine if we went home. We left and got to our house around ten o’clock Saturday night.
I thought for sure the power would be coming on soon but NOPE! It didn’t come on until today (Tuesday) at about 12:30 in the afternoon. We were so excited. It’s been terrible to not have lights, internet, air conditioning (the highs have been in the 90s each day), hot water. But then, as if this was all a joke someone was pulling on us, the power went back out at 2:30 this afternoon. And to make matters worse, only our side of the street lost power this time. Our neighbors, across the street, are enjoying electricity!
It’s now 9:30 in the evening and we still don’t have power!! I’m so frustrated! Thankfully, a very generous guy that works with my husband offered to let him borrow a generator. Tom brought it home today and we’re now using it. Not as good as just having the power back on but so much better than it’s been for the last four nights! We have the television going, fans blowing, the fridge all plugged in and cooling our water/pop/food, our computers going and the internet working! My husband is my hero!!
Bye,
Lisa
