A few days ago, I posted about some new knitting obsessions which included making a Beekeeper’s Quilt. This pattern, by Tiny Owl Knits, has caught lots of knitters in it’s web. I am hooked for sure and I haven’t even made my first hexipuff! The great thing about the Beekeeper’s Quilt is that it’s so portable. It is the type of project that you can work on during the same time that you are working on other projects. You can pick it up & make a hexipuff, or two, then move on to your other projects. Plus, you can use up all your sock, fingering, baby, or dk yarn scraps!
I’m so excited about making one. Being a quilter, this is totally up my alley. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of this weight yarn and I want a ton of variety in my Beekeeper’s Quilt. That is where my dear friend, Melissa, comes in. She’s the one that introduced me to the pattern & now she’s the one who is going to help me gather lots and lots of yarn for my project!
First, before I tell you about the great incentive that she’s set up for you, let me tell you alittle bit about Melissa. She has an awesome blog called “Life Gets in the Way of My Knitting”, which is such a great title! She is a Ravelry Designer & has 16 patterns available. Not to mention her Etsy shop “Cast on for You” and the corresponding Facebook page! She’s a busy lady, but yet she’s still interested in help me! Awesome!!
So, what is the incentive? Here is her post on Facebook…
Anyone have any fingering, baby, or dk yarn scraps they wanna part with? I have a friend who just started the Beekeepers Quilt and doesn’t have any stash to speak of, and would like some help. So I’m gonna throw a trade of sorts out there for you guys.
If you can come up with enough scraps in those weights, at least 15 yards a piece to total 150 yards, it doesn’t matter what the colors are, she wants a multi color blanket (that would be 10 hexis for her), I’ll give you a free pattern of your choice, or $5.00 store credit.
If interested, please let me know.
Isn’t that fantastic! Just send me some yarn, at least 15 yards a piece to total 150 yards, and you can choose one of her patterns for free or received a $5.00 credit to her Etsy store! You’ll get something great & you’ll also be helping me to make the most beautiful Beekeeper’s Quilt! Be sure to get in contact with Melissa if you are going to send me some yarn. Also, you can contact me directly for my mailing address (in Ohio).
I sure hope you all will find it in your hearts to help me! The idea of having hexipuffs made from yarn that has been sent by people who love my blog & want to share their stashes with me is so excited! It’s going to be a beautiful project!
