Teach Me About My Tablet

I need some help, lol! My husband, the wonderfully amazing man that he is, went out on Black Friday and bought me a new tablet. Actually it was the middle of the night on Thursday night, lol! I’ve always wanted one but we just hated to spend the money since I have a laptop that is awesome. But we saw one on sale at HH Gregg for about half price so we figured it was worth it.

My tablet is a Pandigital Multimedia Novel 7″ Android Multimedia Tablet & Color eReader.  It comes with Kindle Reader already installed on it.  I can access the internet with our WiFi so I’m assuming I can download other readers as well, like possibly the one from Barnes and Noble.  I have also downloaded a few games but not too many yet.  Some of the ones I’ve tried (like Angry Birds & Word Fued) won’t work.  I’m assuming it’s because the processor isn’t that great.  I’ve read some mixed reviews on this particular model but for about $60.00 we figured we’d give it a shot.

So, do any of you have any advice for me about my new tablet?  Do you know of any fun games or other apps I should check out?  How about places to find free ebooks?  Really any advice at all would be awesome!  Thanks!

Bye,

Lisa

I don’t have any advice either as I just purchased my first tablet a few days ago and am waiting on it. I will say as far as free e-books I like amazon. I used to read e-books from amazon on my laptop even before I had a kindle.

I am not sure about this model. I have the IPAD and love it. Any reader though is awesome!!

Check out your local library. A lot of them now have e-book lending programs to get free books! :)

  7. If you can add an app for B&N Nook, they also offer free e-books. Charlie loves his Nook but I still prefer a book to read in its original form. But he doesn’t jump around while reading like I do.

I have this exact Tablet and I hated it when I first bought it… then my husband rooted it for me and now it works a lot better but still crashes all the time. It’s great for reading books, but not as easy to use as the iPad (which we also have). Let’s just say I bought it to use as an eReader and that’s what I use it for. Look into rooting it (there are instructions online).

For free books, check out your local library. Also try: http://www.manybooks.net/ and http://www.gutenberg.org/ (great for classic books)

I only have a Nook. We don’t have WiFi out in the Forest where I live so these modern conveniences are no good here. LOL. I go to starbucks or Barnes & Noble and download my new books. :) Good luck

  11. No advice either but I also got one of these for my 8-year old nephew who begged me for an iPad. I love the kid but not THAT much…lol!

Remind me on the group to put you in touch with a friend of mine. She’s got a whole list of places for finding free e-books!

  13. Ohhh! I have that tablet/ereader and LOVE it!! I hacked mine with help from the Facebook group (search for pandigital) and now have it loaded and unlocked. I can read on the Nook and Kindle, check email, play games (not flash, but there are some good ones out there), etc. I don’t know why more people don’t get this one because it can be both a Nook and Kindle and Internet browser. :) Hope you are loving it as much as I love mine.

I once rooted a NookColor for my friend and it unleashed a whole lot of other features. Check if you could download the Amazon Appstore. They will feature 1 app everyday and give it for free. :)

  16. I wish I could help but I don’t have one yet! Way to go on the hubby buying you one though goodluck!

Hi Lisa. Glad you like your new tablet. First off, for the ereader part, dl Calibre it is free and can convert any ebook format. Secondly, you can also install Kindle to PC or tablet, free from Amazon. Third, check out Pixel of Ink on FB, many free ebooks for Kindles and Nooks are on there. They also have bargain books posted as well. Hope that helps.
